Georgian Men Work Harder than Women

Tbilisi (GBC) – The ratio of women in total number of jobless citizens is higher compared to men. Namely, 796,000 women and 894,000 men are employed in the country.

However, the ratio of self-employed prevails among women – 471,000, while only 369,000 self-employed are reported among men. At the same time, men work harder than women.

According to Geostat, the National Statistics Service of Georgia, men work 42 hours a week on average, women work – 35.6 hours.

The situation is different due to economic sectors. Women work the least time in agriculture sector – 24 hours a week, wile men work 29 hours.

The most required and loaded working regime is reported in hospitality and restaurants business. Employees work 55 hours a week, on average, men - 53 hours and women – 51 hours. Considering difference due to economic sectors, men work 40-50 hours a week on average and women work 38-45 hours a week.
